Workshops

Men’s Workshops are three day events of teaching and small group interaction led by Dr. Mark Laaser designed to help men break free from compulsive sexual behavior. The focus of the workshops are not just on strategies to stop the behaviors, but on getting below the surface and understanding the needs and hurts that drive them.

The workshop format is flexible, depending on the needs of the group (which can range from 10 to 20 men), but includes a mixture of lecture, group discussion, and individual reflection time and assignments. Sometimes participants break into smaller groups, with each group led by a trained facilitator.

These workshops are great both for people who are new to recovery and those who are looking for added insights and help. For people who don't live in our ministry area (and thus can't attend groups or individual counseling as a follow-up to the workshop), we also offer Recovery Coaching as a way to help implement the changes talked about at the workshop when you get back home.

At the workshop, you will learn about the spiritual, emotional, and neurochemical basis for addiction. You will be helped to understand the inter-relationship between sexual sin, bondage, and addiction. You will learn all this in the context of a supportive environment, surrounded by men who understand your struggle, because they have been there themselves. And most importantly, you will leave with not only a new resolve, but a practical plan for recovery.

Cost for the workshop is $795, which does not include food or lodging. Workshops are held at our facility (click for map) in Eden Prairie, which is located about 20 minutes west of the Minneapolis airport. There are a variety of hotels to choose from in the Eden Prairie area -- see the link below for more information. If you would like to "buddy up" with someone for added accountability and cost savings (on hotel room and car rental), let us know, and we'll do our best to accomodate you.
